What is the Brain Lab?
Parents who enroll their child into the BRAIN Lab can expect a systematic approach to developing language and literacy skills. By systematic it is meant that we use a formula to determine the best plan first intervention that is individualized and personalized. FIRST, we begin with an educational assessment to determine the present level of functioning and skills. This is important because we have researched based programs that can address the needs of students ages K-12th grade. SECOND, we review the results of the assessment with the parents and recommend a personalized plan for improved literacy abilities. This plan will include a clear start and finish that includes a post test to measure program effectiveness. THIRD, while implementing the educational service plan, our team constantly monitors the child's progress for program effectiveness..

How long does a educational cycle usually take to complete?
A program cycle will take anywhere from 4 - 16 weeks, depending upon the students learning style and needs.

We will provide daily and weekly reports on progress so that the improvements can be monitored each step of the way. Children can expect a fun environment as they learn essential skills for school success.

Can we use assessments to get services from districts?
Although we work with districts, the BRAIN Lab assessments are designed to provide information for the educational services we offer. Our assessments are used for those purposes only. We do, however, attend IEP meetings to provide information helping to IEP plans design.

Where is the BRAIN Lab located?
The BRAIN Lab is the language and literacy specialization of Canyon View school and is a part of McKinley Children's Center. We are located in the beautiful city of San Dimas, California. The address is 762 West Cypress Street, San Dimas, California 91773.

When is the BRAIN Lab services available?
The BRAIN Lab educational services are available during the day for students who attend Canyon View School. Also, we offer a special 4 week summer literacy camp. We have 2 sessions available, one will be from June 17 - July 22, 2013 and the other from July 22 – August 16, 2013 from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. We will begin our after school program the fall of 2013.
